October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and we are proud to give 100% of our proceeds in the month of October to the Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Research (that's right - 100% of proceeds from every item, for the entire month). The Foundation is focused on expanding the research done on people (as opposed to the traditional research done on mice), and they recruit a diverse group for their studies because they know breast cancer does not discriminate based on age, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, socio-economic status or lifestyle. We love that the foundation is working to combat the disparities that exist in research by challenging the scientific community to launch studies that are as inclusive and diverse as the people that breast cancer affects.
The Dr. Susan Love Foundation is committed to understanding the cause and prevention of breast cancer. Dr. Susan Love discovered that many researchers in the field had trouble recruiting people for studies so instead did research on mice. Since mice do not get breast cancer naturally, Dr. Susan Love focused on recruiting a diverse group of people instead - because breast cancer can affect all people. They call this group of real people the Love Research Army, a global database of people interested in participating in research that has grown to over 380,000 members.
The Foundation drives collaborative, cutting-edge research with nontraditional partners, brings to light the collateral damage of treatment and seeks ways to diminish it, and interprets science to empower patients. Fast, flexible, and project-based, the Foundation actively engages the public in scientific research to ensure that it produces accurate and meaningful results.
Arya is proud to support the Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Reserach, as the foundation has been named the Top-Rated Breast Cancer Research and is rated 4 out of 4 stars by Charity Navigator. The Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Research is also a GuideStar Exchange Silver Level and Charity Navigator participant.
